Massage Therapist Job Description
Welcome customers to the massage studio
Consult with customers about their medical histories and any issues with stress and/or pain in order to determine whether massage would be helpful
Perform client consultations and take detailed notes about their needs and existing conditions to determine if massage therapy will be helpful for them
Conduct client evaluations to check for painful or tense areas of the body
Take SOAP notes
Recommend services and treatments
Perform soft-tissue, facial and scalp massages
Listen to client’s feedback and adjust massage techniques as needed
Provide guidance and suggestions to help clients improve their posture, relaxation and muscle strength
Evaluate client’s discomfort, muscle tension and range of motion
Advise clients on stretching techniques based on their lifestyles and needs
Explain treatments and packages offered
Apply and recommend different products as appropriate
Provide a wide range of different massage services
Explain any risks and benefits of each massage procedure to clients
Keep accurate and detailed client treatment records
Sterilize and tools and equipment between clients
Change linens and treatment room/ massage table coverings between clients
Consult with physiotherapists and healthcare professionals about client’s treatment plans, as needed
Help to develop multi-visit treatment plans when needed
Listen to client’s feedback and concerns
Update professional knowledge and qualifications by attending professional development seminars/ classes, etc. when necessary
Accompany clients to treatment rooms and to the reception area, afterwards
Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor
Uphold all health and safety standards
Maintain client confidentiality and approach each client with sensitivity and compassion

Help with general hygiene and cleanliness around the salon
Wash and fold towels and linens as needed
